About the blog · Restless Pioneer

From Nauvoo to Nazareth

Welcome, I’m glad you’re here.

In this blog I will document my personal spiritual journey, from being a lifelong devout Mormon who served a faithful mission, to later leaving the Mormon faith and identifying as agnostic for several years, then finally studying Christianity with a new perspective.

I understand that everyone has their own unique experiences and in this blog I want to be sensitive to that, while at the same time genuinely sharing my experience with challenging and potentially controversial topics. If anything I write is useful in any way to you, then I am thankful for you taking the time to read my thoughts. If you disagree with anything I say, then that is okay as well.

Everything I write will be under the pen name “Restless Pioneer” because although I want to share my story with anyone who may relate to it or be struggling with similar experiences, I want to keep my life private. I hope that you will respect that decision.

For transparency, I want you to know that I am currently in OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) with the Catholic Church to learn more about Catholicism and potentially get baptized. But this blog is by no means an attempt to convince anyone to change their beliefs or convert to a specific religion. It is also not my intention to try to persuade anyone to leave The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I welcome you to come to your own conclusions based on your experience and studies. I hope and pray that what I write may be helpful in some way.

In my posts, I am not going to explain Mormon lingo, as current or former Mormons will understand it, and anyone unfamiliar with Mormon vocabulary can easily fill in the gaps with a quick search on the internet. I do not want my writing to be bogged down with explanations about Mormonism.
